The most challenging part of learning chemistry is accurately visualizing something that you cannot see with your eyes. There are many simulations and computer programs that help students better visualize complicated chemical concepts. This computer will help my students access those resources.
My students face many challenges.
A very high percentage of them are on free or reduced lunch programs. Despite the challenges they face my students show up ready to learn on a daily basis. They are hard working, intelligent, and caring students. They come from a challenging place but they are working hard to make a bright future.
My Project
I am requesting a laptop computer for my students to use. Most of my students have no access to a computer outside of school. This makes it hard for them to access many of the resources that other students might take for granted.
The students will be able to use this computer to run simulations related to the science content they are learning in class. They will also be able to use it to write lab reports, collect and present data, and do research. Not only will the students in my classes have access, but it will also be used to enhance our newly formed science club. I will also make it available to students after school for students who need it because they do not have access to computers at their homes.
This project is important because I believe that it is my duty to make sure my students have the same opportunities as students in more affluent areas.
This computer will go a long way toward giving my students access to many resources that will enhance their education.
