Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, my sixth graders transition into middle school with many questions and bolts of energy. They are coming off learning some of the most integral math content during a pandemic. Though they are resilient, there are gaps to fill.

Our classroom typically involves a collaborative experience where students construct learning through problem-solving.

My students are wonderfully inventive and bring a plethora of skills into differentiated settings. They LOVE story-telling, even in math class.

On the other side of that coin, there exists the deep want to get right answers with as little work as possible. When they don't have the right tools, it's much easier to give up rather than work through the difficulties. That's what I love to see them grow: grit. Together, we celebrate wins as a tiny community and create support systems that empower learning.

My Project

Back to school full STEAM ahead! As all students will be returning to the school house, it's important to get back to evidenced-based strategies like cooperative learning and random sampling. I have lapboards for my students but they need markers and erasers that can easily be sanitized between uses. Unfortunately, we know that not all students will consistently have supplies for school so pencils and pens are always important to have at hand.

By donating to this project you are putting tools directly into the hands of students who need them to succeed.

We know that meeting the basic needs of students in the classroom removes barriers to learning so I thank you for your support.
