Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My end of year goal for my students is that they take ownership of their own learning. I want them to gain confidence in themselves that they are life-long learners and that they can achieve anything they put their mind into.

My students come from a low socioeconomic community.

Many of my students come to school with anxiety from their home structure and environment and they find comfort in school. At times, it is a challenge to capture their attention because of things they may be facing that are not school related. I find time during the day to build relationships so they can see that I'm a caring teacher and want what's best for them.

My Project

My students will be ecstatic to learn that people from around the world have donated hands-on material that will benefit their learning. They will be using the Reading Informational/Literature learning center for Common Core Standards during group time. While I'm meeting with groups, the rest of the students will be interacting with Common Core centers. My students will continue to practice and enhance their learning on math and reading comprehension skills by daily practice from their math and reading journals. They will be practicing their skills during morning time routine and throughout the day after they have completed assignments assigned for the day. They will be working daily with theses resources to better their craft in language arts and math. These new up-to-date materials will be exciting for my students because it's new and the information is presented in a new format.

Donations to my classroom will improve my classroom management and improve student achievement with Common Core material.

Due to lack of funds, we are unable to have a teacher's assistant in the classroom to help me with grouping but these materials will help bring focus and learning during independent time and will help my students take ownership of their learning and in turn build confidence. Classroom management will improve because they will have great stuff to keep them learning.
