My Students

In our classroom, we are a community of learners and leaders. All 50 of my students have the potential to make a real impact in this world. In an urban, inner-city school, like ours, many of our students cannot afford school supplies and the resources to take their learning to the next level. These students do, however, have the passion to achieve their dreams. In my class, we have future lawyers, teachers, doctors, musicians, sport athletes, and true leaders in our society.

These students are not only special, they are remarkable.

I wake up every morning excited about what the day will bring and not only what I will provide to my students, but also, what they will provide me in return. Laughter, smiles, and seeing the "awh ha" moments every single day, as they continue to battle against their weaker skills, to bridging the gaps in their learning and celebrating successes and accomplishments.

My Project

Interactive notebooks have benefited student learning by allowing them to take accountability in their learning. Students create and maintain a notebook that serves as a portfolio of sorts to document learning in the classroom. The materials in this project will make a difference as they will serve as the basis of creating of their notebooks. Students will have access to the cart to select materials for their notebook pages to create individualized and creative demonstrations of learning throughout the school year.

This year is all about the growth mindset!

With that in mind, interactive notebooks will showcase students with a variety of skills and concepts that they might not be able to do yet, but through practice and accountable learning, can do now!
