I teach Art to the 7th/8th Grades at Intermediate School 125, Henry Hudson, in the Bronx, Region 2. Over 90% of our students receive free lunch. I have chosen for my theme this year ?Henry Hudson Explorers Explore the World?. The main focus of this theme is to introduce the students of IS 125 to various parts of the world. Each week, I schedule readings of writers and poets from different places. Each month I introduce a different culture and its art, while incorporating these examples to further my students' understanding of the elements of art and its history. I would also like to be able to include the unlimited resources of the internet in my lessons. Especially the interactive sites at which we may visually tour places containing wonders of art. In order to successfully accomplish this, I need a laptop computer to project the websites for whole-class viewing. Unfortunately, we do not have enough funds to have computers in every classroom. With the help of an Apple PowerBook (laptop), which is compatible with our computer system at IS 125, I would be able to project the various sites onto a screen and have each of my classes experience, as a group, the wonders of interacting with art on the internet.
