My Students

I always tell each of my World Changers that they will go and change the world, of course for the better. Many of them have not been able to log on during this pandemic due to the bandwidth in their apartment complex. The school provided devices and hot spots, but the connection is very weak. I also have students who are in need of structure. They can't control their home environment and sometimes if they do log in they may log in at 2 in the morning on a Saturday and that is it for the week. They log in to say hello and to tell me they love me. My heart continues to break, but I am striving to be strong for them as well as myself.

I sent out photo albums and books to each of my students earlier during this pandemic and their parents sent messages to say how overjoyed the kids were and how they couldn't put the books down.

I feel confident that if I can get books and tools that relate to what will be taught next year they will have a stronger start and less regression.

My Project

Schools around the world will be opening in many different forms in a few weeks. My students here in Georgia will be returning to school virtually. Although this keeps children safe, it makes me think of all the schools and families that are not prepared to teach virtually.

I am graciously asking for numerous materials that my students will have at their fingertips to interact with me virtually.

I always create or have students create an interactive notebook throughout the year. I will use these materials to create interactive notebooks for students for my 5th grade science and social studies class. Students need some form of structure and outline and placing their notebooks in their binders along with a pencil pouch that will include pencils, pencil sharpeners, scissors, and glue will help them remain organized at home.

Card stock, labels, computer paper, and sheet protectors will be used to create interactive notebook outlines. If I am teaching a lesson on cells students will have the outline at their fingertips and will be able to fill in the chart with me while I am teaching virtually. All resources will be given to students to keep at their homes in order to help them stay organized and successful.
