Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After COVID, we saw so much loss of opportunity for our students; however, we also saw an opportunity to create something new. With our theatres shut down, we had to learn how to create again. While we all 'Zoom-ed' into meetings and saw filmed auditions, the answer was clear: shift to film.

Our mission: create a film course to show students how to use the tools in their pockets to make something new.

Our first year of film production was incredibly successful. Students were able to produce four films to compete in various festivals across the country. The UIL Young Filmmakers Festival saw one of our student films advance to be a semi-finalist to state.

We were successful in piloting our film course. This year our goal is to continue to grow our film program. Our most frequent critiques for last year were audio issues. Getting clear and quality audio can make or break a film. We have some great audio equipment, but we also want to be able to have consistent sound throughout all our films.

The requested microphones will help alleviate some of the pressure to get quality audio. The extra lens will help unleash a mobile phone's full potential for its camera. We want to create another great year for film and provide the most opportunities for success. Your donation would be a fantastic step on our journey.

My students have worked hard to create a solid foundation for our film program. We hope that you can see their potential and help them get the equipment they deserve.
