Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a delightful bunch. They come every day, ready to learn with a smile. I teach English learners in a high-poverty school where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are eager learners who know that hard work and perseverance will help them attain their goals for success.

As a teacher, I do my best to provide differentiated instruction to meet my students' everyday needs. I believe every student should get every opportunity to learn.

My Project

My classroom this year is full of students who love being read to because they are emergent readers. My students tell me they prefer being read to but sometimes meeting these needs at home can be difficult. You see my class is made of English Learners in which most parents do not read or speak English. Many of these parents don't have access to read-alongs with CD's or appropriate leveled books on a daily basis.

I want to instill the love of reading and build literacy skills along the way!

These books are a great resource because they will be appropriate for my students who are reading at a kindergarten and first grade level. Also, these read-alongs offer access to a variety of nonfiction and fiction text. My goal is that by having these books it will allow them to build their confidence in reading.

If this project is fully funded, my students will have access to checkout these books on a daily basis.
