We are the first single-gender school in the state of Georgia to become STEM certified. Our school is a public, all-girls, 6-12 grade school in the NE side Atlanta. 100% of the student population receives free lunch. I have had students share their personal stories and some of the odds they face. It touches my heart to see how many students have the bare necessity to get by and still make learning look easy. The challenges the students face do not stand in the way of them getting the job done. Our girls go above and beyond all expectations and always rise to the occasion. We inspire and provide the tools for our CSKYWLA Scholars to be globally conscious college and career-ready STEMinists.
I believe hard-working students should be rewarded for excelling. We must praise and reward as much as possible because our teachers and staff may be the only ones uplifting and rewarding students. CSKYWLA students are doing exceptionally well with their academics and commitment to reach their grade-level goals. A CSKingo card also known as Bingo was created to help students track their academics. The completed task will be marked off in one of the following orders: diagonally, vertical, and horizontal. Students must complete several task on the CSKingo card to get a BINGO. Averaging a B or higher, No missing assignments, No unexcused absences, etc will help students reach their goal. The gift cards provided will reward students an opportunity to do something fun like go to movies or eat at a restaurant. The incentives will also encourage my students to do their best at all times. I love the quote "It's the things we work hardest for that will reward us the most."
