My Students

My students come from a very low-income/high needs environment. The school is a Title I school in Philadelphia where 100% of our students are eligible for free meals. Many of my students are performing well below grade level.

Many of my students do not have role models in their neighborhood to help them fulfill their goals and reach for their dreams.

I believe all students have the right to learn and succeed. In order to make sure students have the ability to learn, they just need a safe environment and the resources to learn.

My Project

My middle school scientists will use these books and magazines to learn about various careers of individuals they can relate to. We will use these materials throughout the classroom to enhance our learning.

My students need good role models to be able to construct a pathway for their future.

My students come from a neighborhood that is full of crime. Many of my students will be the first of their family to achieve a higher education. I want to not only teach my students science, but to help them reach further and be able to make a difference in their world.

In these books, students will be able to identify successful scientists, inventors, and others that have made impacts in the world in various ways. Students will use these books for independent reading, and for research on biographies and to identify goals for their own futures.

The science magazine will help the class to stay current with science topics throughout the world. Having science article written to middle schoolers will help them learn in language they understand.
