My Project

My second-grade class is full of curious and enthusiastic learners, and I strive to provide them with engaging and challenging materials to foster their love for reading. I have a group of advanced readers who are ready to dive into their first book study using the I Survived series, starting with I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912 by Lauren Tarshis.

My advanced students thrive when given the opportunity to read books that challenge their thinking, enhance their comprehension skills, and spark meaningful discussions.

The I Survived series is an excellent choice because it combines historical events with fast-paced storytelling, making it both educational and exciting. This book study will allow my students to develop critical thinking skills, deepen their understanding of history, and engage in rich discussions with their peers.

To make this possible, I am requesting copies of I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912 and copies of I Survived Hurricane Katrina, 2005. With these books, my advanced readers will participate in small group discussions, analyze historical events, and strengthen their reading comprehension. Your support will help create an engaging and enriching learning experience for these young scholars by challenging them with historical fiction books.
