Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am excited to share my project, aimed at enriching the minds of my students with a collection of bilingual "Little People, Big Dreams" books in Español, along with a rotating bookshelf to house these inspiring stories.The "Little People, Big Dreams" series highlights the lives of iconic figures like Frida Kahlo, Martin Luther King Jr., and Amelia Earhart, showcasing their achievements and the challenges they overcame.

By having these books available in Spanish, we can celebrate cultural diversity and ensure that all students, including our Spanish-speaking learners, can access the stories that inspire perseverance, creativity, and change.

The rotating bookshelf will serve as a dynamic and engaging way to display our new collection. This will encourage students to explore the books regularly, fostering a love for reading and an appreciation for the arts and history. By making these books easily accessible, I aim to promote literacy and cultural awareness among my students.

Project Goals:

Cultural Awareness: Introduce students to diverse role models from various backgrounds, encouraging discussions about their contributions to society.

Literacy Development: Foster a love for reading through engaging stories that resonate with students' experiences.

Classroom Environment: Create an inviting reading nook with the rotating bookshelf, promoting a sense of ownership and pride in our classroom library.

My students are a vibrant, diverse group who come from various cultural backgrounds. Many are bilingual and eager to learn about figures who have shaped our world. They are curious, creative, and always hungry for stories that reflect their identities and aspirations. By providing them with resources that speak to their experiences and dreams, I hope to empower them to envision their futures and believe in their potential.
