This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are curious, compassionate, and eager to learn about the world around them. They care deeply about nature and their environment, often asking thoughtful questions about how they can help protect the planet. Many of them come from communities where climate change directly impacts their lives, making this topic even more relevant and urgent. Providing them with these books will not only nurture their passion for reading but also empower them with the knowledge and inspiration to become future changemakers.

The climate literacy books I’m requesting will help my students develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues and inspire them to become stewards of the planet.

These books present complex topics—such as climate change, conservation, and sustainability—in an engaging, age-appropriate way, making learning both accessible and exciting. By reading stories about real-life young activists and solutions to environmental challenges, students will feel empowered to take action in their communities.

My primary goal is to build climate literacy among my students, equipping them with the knowledge and critical thinking skills needed to understand and address environmental issues. I want them to see that they have the power to make a difference, whether through small everyday actions or larger advocacy efforts. This project will also foster a love for reading by introducing them to books that connect with their real-world concerns and interests.
