My Project

What makes my students special is their openness to new ideas and their eagerness to make connections between the stories they read and the world around them. They are not just readers; they are thinkers and creators who thrive when given opportunities to explore literature in meaningful ways. Providing them with access to great novels will not only enhance their academic journey but also inspire them to grow as empathetic, informed individuals.

The novels I am requesting are high interest, engaging, and will make a significant difference in their learning by providing stories that spark empathy and cultivate critical thinking and discussion.

These books will help us build a classroom library filled with diverse voices and perspectives, encouraging students to read for pleasure and purpose and take our book club discussions to the next level. From exploring complex characters to grappling with relevant social issues, these novels will also serve as the foundation for creative projects, like podcasts, literary discussions, and visual storytelling, which my students love.

My goal for this project is simple yet impactful: to foster a lifelong love for reading by putting engaging, high-quality books in my students’ hands. By offering these novels, I aim to inspire even the most reluctant readers, helping them develop stronger literacy skills while connecting with powerful narratives.

As an 8th grade teacher, I am inspired every day by the curiosity and creativity my students bring to our classroom. They are a diverse group of advanced learners who thrive on engaging discussions, sharing ideas, and diving into thought-provoking stories. However, one challenge we face is ensuring students have consistent access to captivating novels that inspire them to put down their devices and immerse themselves in the world of literature. They love to read everyday and get through so many novels!
