My Students

Our students are excited to learn, curious, innovative, playful, kind and fun! Our classroom is comprised of forty-eight 2nd and 3rd-grade students at a charter school in southern California. We do a lot of projects with partners or in cooperative groups of four so students learn how to work as a team.

We are also a magnet school so students from many different backgrounds and cultures get to know each other.

We set high standards and enjoy the journey to reach them.

My Project

Through their vivid pictures and incredible tales, these stories will capture our readers' attention. As we read aloud these beautiful books, we will push our students to infer, predict, summarize, wonder and monitor for comprehension.

We envision them making connections to these people and characters and celebrating their successes and, in turn, visualizing their own success.

We chose these books to enrich the diversity of our library. We want our students to see themselves reflected in engaging literature as well as their classmates and the diverse community around them in Los Angeles.
