Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a lively group of kindergartners that enjoy learning. They come from low income households and qualify for 100% free breakfast and lunch. Currently, the district is offering the Grab and go meals for every student to get free meals Monday through Fridays.

I am so proud of the transition they made to online learning as they are actively learning through our zoom courses.

With the limited time we were given to prepare our students for distance learning, they were sent home with just a two week package to complete. My students and their families would appreciate your support with greatly needed school resources and supplies.

My Project

My kindergarten students are learning to make sense of their world. Their attitudes about differences between people are beginning to develop during these early school years.

If early experiences about inclusion are positive ones, those attitudes will likely carry over into adulthood.

That is why I will use the literature to do read-alouds throughout the school year to help them understand that people are alike in some ways and different in other ways. I will use the arts and craft remotely to show and teach them that we need to respect and be neighborly to everyone.

The resources will help my students value and appreciate ways in which we are alike and ways in which we are different.
