This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you enjoy reading? My 5th grade students are inspiring readers who enjoy reading.

I teach a group of students who range in ability, but one thing they have in common is that they all come from poverty.

I teach in a school in Allentown, PA. Even though my students have a rough life, I am trying to make their schooling experience one they will never forget and hopefully inspire them to be better readers and a better people.

My Project

Getting students to read is a difficult task. My students enjoy reading, but the problem is that my classroom library doesn't have a sufficient amount of books. These students don't have the money to go out and buy their own books like other students in wealthier schools do. It is my job to provide them with the materials they need. They also enjoy relaxing in the library, but they can't because of the cold, damp floor. Allowing students to choose a book and relax on the carpet will help my students build a love for reading.

Please help my students build a better classroom library.

Providing these materials for my class will make a huge difference. They will have more chapter books to pick from and will enjoy reading in the library. Reading is a very important skill. Please help promote reading in my classroom!
