This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Dear Donors,

I am an ESL teacher at a high school in Philadelphia, and I need your help in creating a class library to enhance the literacy skills of our diverse student population.

Our school's library is non-operational, leaving our ESL students without the necessary resources to develop their reading abilities and cultivate a love for literature. With your support, we can change that.

By donating, you will directly impact the lives of our ESL students by providing them with a wide range of English and Spanish language books. These books will cater to their language proficiency levels and cultural backgrounds, helping them improve their literacy rates in both their native and acquired languages.

Your contribution will help us build a diverse collection of high-interest fiction and non-fiction, classic literature, poetry collections, bilingual books, and culturally relevant texts. With this variety, our students will feel a stronger sense of belonging and engage in independent reading.

This library will encourage our high school students to explore different genres, improve their comprehension skills, and develop a deep appreciation for the written word. Through interactive reading activities and collaborative learning projects, your donations will foster teamwork and critical thinking among our ESL students. They will strengthen their language skills, engage in group discussions, and form a sense of community within our classroom.
