My Students

My students are special because they come from diverse backgrounds with most being of Hispanic and Haitian descent. Most of the students are bilingual with some having the extreme advantage of being multilingual! For many of my students, English is their second language which can make learning, particularly reading, more challenging. Our school is Title I school in the heart of Miami, Florida. The majority of our students, 93% to be exact, have free and reduced-price lunch.

Most of the students come from low incomes.

Although economically disadvantaged, my students are rich in culture and curiosity.

Learning is the glue that fosters a cohesive environment. It doesn’t matter where we’re from, what language(s) we speak, or how much money we have, we are all here for one purpose: to learn.

The neighborhood has a great sense of community and is on the rise. There are many programs to serve the needs of the students within walking distance of the school. Parents are becoming more involved and local businesses are beginning to lend a helping hand. We are proud to say we are a part of this community.

My Project

The HP Chromebook laptops will make our classroom come alive. There are so many new and exciting technology tools that can be used in the classroom with the proper equipment.

My students will be inspired to become global citizens through transformation learning using Microsoft Office and other amazing technological products.

As young mathematicians, technology will help the students enhance their STEM skills by modeling projects that consist of geometric, ratio, and equation skills that will build upon a great learning environment to excel to the next level.

Students will also be able to connect virtually with other students around the globe.

Since this is a math classroom, this is an incredible opportunity for students to explore anything that have something to do with STEM. We can take virtual field trips that allow students to get a better sense of where they are in comparison to the world involving STEM! It’s important for students to get out and see different aspects and components of creating STEM projects outside of the classroom. This technology will transform the classroom to the next level of learning.

We are also requesting a speaker to hook up to our classroom promethean board so that we will be able to hear the recording of the virtual tour of the STEM projects clearly. The speaker on the promethean board in the classroom plays very low, and there's nothing more the tech can do at our school to fix it. We’re looking forward to a great year venturing with the HP Chromebook and it’s many new components to help our projects.
