My Project

My students are a bright, curious, and diverse group of third-graders who love exploring new ideas. They are eager to learn about the world around them, ask insightful questions, and dream big. However, many have limited access to resources that showcase diverse role models in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

I want to create a classroom library of engaging, age-appropriate books that celebrate the achievements of women scientists across different cultures and historical periods.

By introducing my students to inspiring figures like Marie Curie, Katherine Johnson, and Jane Goodall, I hope to help them see themselves as future scientists, inventors, and problem-solvers.

The books I’ve selected feature a range of reading levels, making them accessible to all my students. Titles like "The Bug Girl: A True Story" and "Swimming with Sharks: The Daring Discoveries of Eugenie Clark" will spark curiosity and demonstrate that science is for everyone.

By adding these books to our classroom, I aim to foster a love for reading and science, promote representation and diversity in STEM, empower all students, especially girls, to see themselves as scientists, and create meaningful discussions about perseverance, creativity, and problem-solving.

I believe that every student deserves the opportunity to see themselves in the stories they read. With your support, we can inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators!
