My Students

My students attend the most diverse high school in the United States of America. Many will be the first in their families to attend college and most of my students aspire to careers in the medical profession.

While my students may come from a variety of cultures, their commonality is their desire to excel academically.

I am inspired by the tenacity of these young people and the drive they possess to tackle rigorous academics.

Funding this project will help my students learn skills they need to succeed beyond high school in all areas.

My Project

Anatomy and Physiology is a very popular course for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. Students in my anatomy and physiology course approach learning the material through the lens of medical students.

The materials obtained in this project will help provide hands-on activities to help complex physiological processes come alive.

In addition to learning the fundamental concepts surrounding physiology, the kits in this project will provide the opportunity to learn skills similar to those used by medical professionals. For example, the suturing kit will be used in our unit on the Integumentary (skin) System while the vision kit will help students learn how to perform and assess basic diagnostic tests related to vision.
