Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My amazing 6th graders are enrolled in Dual Language and Bilingual programs. Earlier this year they completed a reading survey and indicated that they are interested in reading fiction and nonfiction books which include pictures and graphic novels. They have also mentioned their interest in the “I Survived” books which include historical facts and books about sports, especially soccer, many of them are fans of the sport. Moreover, they have mentioned their interest in graphic novels since they are kid-friendly and engaging.

My students are eager readers who devour graphic novels and are interested in them because of the visuals and pictures which are less intimidating than typical books for struggling readers.

I want them to be life-long readers in Spanish and by including these books in my classroom it will expand their love for reading.

Unfortunately, my classroom library does not have these books but with your kind donation, I will be able to place them on my bookshelves and ensure that my amazing students develop the love for reading that will make them better students.
