My Project

As a high school English teacher, I am always looking for creative ways to engage my students in reading. Many of my students are reluctant readers, but I have found that providing them with novels that connect to their passions—such as sports—helps spark their interest and encourages a love of literature. With a collection of sports-themed novels, I hope to reach students who love athletics but may not yet have discovered the joy of reading.

These books will provide my students with exciting, relatable stories featuring perseverance, teamwork, and personal growth—values they experience on and off the field.

These books will not only entertain but also inspire my students to see themselves reflected in literature. Additionally, having a diverse selection of sports-themed novels will help build a culture of reading in my classroom, making literacy more accessible and enjoyable for all.

Additionally, my students will create an individual reading project at the end of the semester, including a poster to showcase their favorite novel. I believe many of my athletes will use these novels for their projects!
