Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My 26 kindergarten students, on the south side of Chicago, are excited to begin writing! I was able to purchase writing journals and pencils (with my own money of course) to get them started. To model good writing practices for my students, we are in great need of a large dry erase board. I have been using a piece of shower board with rough unfinished edges posing a threat to the safety of my students. A large dry erase board would allow my kindergarteners access to quality writing instruction. The small board I am currently using does not allow for large print. Many of my students have vision problems and can’t afford glasses making large print necessary during daily writing instruction. Please help my anxious students improve their writing by providing this board for them. You may be giving the next Maya Angelou or Langston Hughes the writing tool they need to springboard their stories.
