Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Public Montessori school in which our students start by learning practical life skills which they will use in everyday life. Our students are an amazing group of 3 - 6 year olds. They stay in our classroom for a three year cycle. The relationships that they develop are inspiring.

Our students come to us from an urban environment in which resources run scarce and teachers have to find imaginative ways to engage our students.

Most of our students are eligible for free or reduced lunches, however they come to school eager to learn.

My Project

I want to promote early literacy skills with materials that stimulate interest in nature and an overall joy in learning. Providing Independent authentic and creative learning experiences is very important to me.

My goal is for these kits to be a resource for students to launch creative science works based on their interests relating to plants and animals.

These kits match the plants and animal puzzles we already have in our classroom that students begin using at age three. Once students can assemble the puzzles they learn to label the parts.

As they work with the activity sets they will not only be strengthening literacy skills and building academic vocabulary they will be able to create work that is authentic and important to them.

Students will be working on reading and literacy skills joyfully. The endless possibilities are only limited to students imagination.
