My Students

"Writing is an exploration. You start from nothing and learn as you go." -E. L. Doctorow My students are just discovering the joy of becoming writers. They love to share their work for everyone to see!

I teach a large kindergarten class made up of 20 eager and ready-to-learn 5 year olds in a high poverty area of South Carolina.

My students come from a low-income, rural area of South Carolina, but are very eager to learn new things. They attend a large elementary school that houses pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

My Project

My students will use the different types of papers to create innovative and creative writing pieces. Because I teach language arts, both reading and writing are addressed. Sometimes they will be sharing their knowledge of a book they have read or they can showcase a particular language skill in their writing. With the papers I have requested, my students would be able to really get creative and develop some awesome projects and presentations. After they have their finished writing projects, they will be able to use the display strips to display them in the hallway for everyone to see.

Your donations will truly make a difference in my classroom.

Because of budget cuts and no funding for any "extras", many of these projects are not a possibility. I am hoping to inspire my students to want to become better writers by allowing them to produce creative work and display it for others to see.
