Help me give my students books that foster curiosity and inspiration! My students will be empowered by personally connecting with this rich literature, from biographies to art, to the histories of indigenous and colonial Latin American peoples.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Hello! I am a new teacher serving 9th grade SLIFE (students with limited or interrupted formal education) in inner city Trenton, New Jersey. My students have recently immigrated as unaccompanied minors from Central America. I am passionate about teaching literacy (strengthening their native language as a necessary foundation for building capacity in English). To this end, I am building a classroom library that is inviting and evocative, where my students can make connections to their histories and rich cultures. I need books in both English and Spanish for a broad range of reading levels. This is why my priority request through DonorsChoose is for BOOKS!!! Thank you in advance for your support.
