My Students

Help keep us current! Our present encyclopedia "set" is not only incomplete, it's also from 1982!! While using the Internet is a great tool for students doing research, it is also important for students to be able to use a variety of resource materials to obtain information.

I am a 5th grade teacher with a diverse group of students.

They speak many different languages. Although they are all different, they all have a great desire to learn. Our public school is small and has a diverse student population. Our multicultural atmosphere is wonderful for learning, and we are a California Distinguished School, recognized for outstanding achievement in education. My students enjoy learning and are very curios, eager and motivated. I am certain that with the addition of new technology my students will soar!

My Project

Helping us acquire a new set of encyclopedias will help my students as they engage in project-based learning on various topics. These encyclopedias will be used to help students gather the necessary information needed to complete various reports such as country and a state reports. Although the Internet is a fantastic tool, frequently the information is not always accurate. Students need a way to verify the information they gather and also be able to use various resources to thoroughly complete the project.

Giving students the necessary resources to find knowledge is instrumental in creating a generation of inquisitive children.

My students are consistently seeking out new facts and we use our new information to discuss new, innovative ideas to help improve the world around us. With this donation, you are helping to shape a classroom of innovative thinkers who will change our world!
