Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Each one of my students has an individualized service plan and are mandated for speech/language services to address areas of need such as receptive language, expressive language, articulation, and fluency. My students enjoy coming to speech therapy and working on their goals. It is amazing to see their reactions when they learn a new strategy. My students may need various repetitions before grasping a concept. Students learn at different rates and it is important to give them their best possible outcome. My school is extremely supportive. However, being that we are in a high needs area, we are not provided with all of the supplies needed in speech to address all of the students objectives. Therefore, we are requesting the assistance from Donors Choose to assist us in reaching our goals.

My Project

I can utilize the puzzles with lower grades such as prekindergarten and work on concepts such as vocabulary and following directions. The additional materials will be a great addition to our speech room. Using this, I can target various academic skills with my students such as reading comprehension, auditory comprehension, sequencing skills, narrative skills, making inferences and making connections between cause and effect relationships. I am especially excited to use the nursery rhymes to facilitate the younger student's in their ability to retell a story/rhyme using the manipulatives being provided. These visuals will excite the children in the given task.
