My Students

I daily use the LCD projector for my lessons. I'd like my students to have more close interaction with me during the lessons. Now I stand next to the computer, which gives me a limited access to my students.

I've been teaching English Language Arts for 15 years: 8th grade for the fist 10 years and 7th grade for the past five years.

Our district and school have been trying to expand the use of technology in the classroom; however, I have a limited access to technology in my classroom (a desktop, a laptop, and a projector) where I stand at one place to teach the lessons. In order to keep up with educational technology trends, I've joined the technology committee;however, with the limited access to technology available currently, my endeavor has not been very successful.

My Project

I am requesting Microsoft - Surface Pro 3 that gives me more and better access to teach the lessons in more innovative and engaging ways to teach the students. Students do want the close proximity with the teacher in order to stay focused and to get more personal attention from the teacher. This will give me the mobility to move around the classroom while teaching the lesson, so that I can reach out to every student. Also, students gravitate more toward colorful and creative presentations and lessons. It will open up opportunities to integrate more engaging activities into my lessons using different applications, such as nearpod, MightyMeeting, ES File Explorer, Papyrus, and etc. The best part about using this technology in my lessons will be that I can take a picture of a student work sample, project it for everyone, and edit it in front of the students.

The Surface Pro will not only empower me to give more interactive experiences and to innovate my lessons and presentations but also enhance student learning through engaging lessons.

The different applications will help their learning more interactive and personalized through instant feedback.
