My Students

We have an amazing group of talented, dedicated, and diverse students that compete at a high level despite operating on a shoe-string budget. Our students consistently earn high accolades through sheer force of will. Somehow they always rise to the challenge and hold their own against properly funded schools across the country using their ingenuity and ability. With the proper support our school could become a premier STEM program in our city.

As part of the largest high school in the Philadelphia School District, our school is home to over 3,500 students with over 50 languages spoken and just as many socioeconomic backgrounds.

School provides a safe space where students' differences are embraced and students can focus on their learning and growth as scientists and as emerging adults.

My Project

Materials funded through this project will help develop our Innovation Lab. My Students have a hunger for learning and interacting with the newest technology. By helping to build this lab space you are helping to create the next generation of engineers and programmers.

In order to help students take learning out of the computer screen, we are requesting a quality 3D printer, Laser Engraver, and CNC machine to bring digital designs to life.

3D technology is a huge interest to our Robotics teams as well as our Career and Technical Education students. These materials will allow us to build an interactive space for students to create, innovate, and inspire.

In these unprecedented times we will not be able to use our innovation lab in a traditional sense. To enable students access to the lab remotely we will be utilizing web-based CAD and 3D modeling software for students to create their designs. Students will then share these models with myself and other teachers monitoring the lab. Students will have opportunities to refresh and refine their skills in 3D modeling. Once we regain access to the building we will make these designs come to life. Teachers cannot wait to get back in the classroom and create with our students again.
