My Students

Our Explorer class was in the top 1,000 to finish the Introduction to Computer Coding offered by code.org! We are going to take our learning to the next level, like imagineers at Disney, with the raspberry pi and accessories. The Scholastic magazines will help us learn about current science issue

My students are bright, capable middle school students who love hands on learning and innovating.

We are working to create a STEAM learning experience- incorporating science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Almost 20% of my 7th and 8th grade students are in the foster care system, living in a group home in our rural valley. These students need every opportunity for success in school and beyond. The raspberry pi computers will help students learn engineering and science as well as boost creativity since the sky is the limit with the projects students can create. Our math and science teachers will be working to create SciMath projects for the upcoming school year. These projects will incorporate the arts as well.

My Project

Code.org says, "Every student in every school should have the opportunity to learn computer coding." My 6th grade students have finished the Introduction to Computer Coding course and earned money from code.org! With the raspberry pi computers, students will continue to learn computer coding and experience hands on applications of science concepts. With raspberry pis and the accessories, students will create maker movement projects while exploring science, electronics, and computer coding. We will make sensors to find temperature etc. The Scholastic Science magazine will give us up to date articles and common core aligned activities to help deliver a state of the art science program. The ice cream ball will teach about freezing point in a fun, delicious way while the geyser tubes will teach about chemical reactions.

Computer programming with raspberry pi computers will put our class on the cutting edge.

Student will learn and then create projects with LED lights, motion sensors, motors, etc. Their imagination will be the limit! We will move from learning to learning and innovating! They geyser tubes and ice cream ball will add fun and hands on examples of chemical reactions. The Scholastic Science magazine offers common core aligned curriculum.
