This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
We are looking to remodel our school garden with raised gardening beds to ensure that they can stay in our school community for years to come to ensure that future students for years to come to garden. Our currents wooden bins have turned to rot and we want something that will last for the students. The garden will benefit Kindergarten and 1st grade students in our community.
We are also going to use what we grow in school garden in our classroom.
A lot of students do not have access to farm fresh fruits and vegetables. This garden will be used by the school community. We will grow and then transfer our plants, flowers, vegetables and herbs to our school and be able to taste what fresh veggies and fruits will taste like.
The soil will ensure we have enough to dirt to ensure that our lettuce, beets, peas, and fall flowers grow with enriched dirt to help ensure success for the students to see.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
