This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." -Eleanore Roosevelt I am a Social Studies teacher in an inner-city middle school, currently teaching 7th and 8th grades. My students come to me from a high-need community, where I try to inspire and make them enthusiastic about learning, so that they might have more opportunities to grow and achieve.

There are very limited resources within my school, and very little money to help increase these resources. Each teacher is allotted only $130 per year for school supplies. Furthermore, English Language Arts and Math are the two subjects shown most respect, and they receive the limited amount of technology and supplemental resources the school can afford. My students are not given much in the way of opportunities outside of the bare minimum. Art and music classes have been cut and after-school activities and sports are extremely limited.

My LCD projector is well over 10 years old and is breaking. No one in the Social Studies department has a projector. I use one on a daily basis for my lessons, which I truly believe enhances my lessons for the benefit of my students. We do creative projects, activities, and the lessons I teach using the projector are helpful for differentiated learning. Auditory learners hear my voice, while visual learners see the materials on the screen.

With your assistance, I will not go into debt myself in order to continue the style of teaching I feel works best for my students. More importantly, with your help, inner-city students will be one step closer to higher learning, greater achievements, and an even higher quality of education.
