Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

As a Automotive Teacher in New York my high-need students need to have as many Certifications to help them gain a higher quality job.

As a ASE (Automotive Service Excellence)teacher in New York I strive to help my students not only complete my program but complete it with enough knowledge so they can go out in the field and gain a entry level position. Now one of the problems my students encounter is even if they have said knowledge people will not give them a chance. Yes my students are of the inner city type but I can and will vouch for each one of my completers that not only can they do the job, but I feel as good as some people who have gone to the more pricey schools. My problem, as many people know, is the lack of funds. CTE programs such as mine do not get the funds that your basic Math,English programs get. So when I asked that I allow my students the chance to take their ASE exams in school I was provided a small amount of money to buy the online exams. These exams will prove that my students can not only do the hands on part of the job but also they have the text book knowledge needed for our field. Now with all our money going towards exams my kids don't get a chance to study or take practice exams at home.

With the addition of some netbooks my students will be able to study these online exams at their home or during their lunch breaks at their current job. These small computers will be loaned out on a 48 hour basis. During this time frame students will be able to log on and familiarize them selves with the type and subject matter of these questions. This of cause will help my kids take and pass the exams the first time out. And this of course will help save money down the road.

Your help with funding this project will help lead my students to into their choosing field, Automotive. As we all know the Automotive field is a growing field and these students show a desire to break out. They know giving the chance they will prove them selves in this field. And the main way that this can happen is to show up for their interview with a resume that shows they have Certifications, you can help make this happen.
