This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Benjamin Franklin once said, "Tell me and I'll forget, Show me and I may remember, involve me and I will learn." His words hold true to the students in my classroom. My students learn best when their lessons are interactive and engaging. This is conveyed through their interactive notebooks as well!

I teach literacy and social studies to 60 third grade students that are strong-minded and determine to grow their brain muscles onto new levels.

My students attend a Title One school, located in New York, in which 30% of the student body lives in shelters. They are the daily news examples of a broken system that has failed day after day and time after time. While the unconcealed publicizing of “failing schools” might discourage some, they do their best and remain positive despite their struggles. As their teacher I buy the supplies they need to continue soaring out of my own pocket, because I don’t want to limit their growth based off of circumstances they cannot control. Most importantly I want to instill within them the joy learning and growing both mentally and physically can bring regardless of the challenges within your own life.

My Project

The materials I am requesting are ink and color pencils to create interactive notebooks. Having my students create interactive notebooks has brought tremendous amounts of creativity, engagement and independent thinking to my classroom. With that said, we are, however, running low on supplies. Having ink and color pencils in my classroom will help my students to continue making interactive notebooks in reading, writing and social studies; which will allow them to proceed to express their ideas, understanding and love for learning.

Attending a school that has a limited budget and short amount of resources, these supplies are difficult for my students to receive on their own.

Your donations will help my students soar right through the limitations and labels that have been placed upon them. We really hope you decide to donate. As their method of learning deepens and changes, so will their love of learning, which is priceless. Every dollar helps!
