Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 4th grade ELA in a low-income neighborhood where supplies are limited. But my students are bright and always excited to learn! They are very creative and have that innate will to learn and teach one another every single day. They are always looking for exciting new books to read, discover, and delve deeper into. They challenge themselves mentally and emotionally every day to take on new challenges. In order to differentiate my instruction, I like to give them resources at their level. Sometimes Chromebooks can be hard to navigate or just distracting. I want to give my students paper versions so that they can travel and refer back to it whenever needed. They inspire me to get out of my comfort zone and try something that may be daunting but without failure nothing is possible. They truly motivate me to try new things and bring new meaning to the term "You will always miss 100% of the shots you don't take!".

My Project

These materials will impact my students tremendously! They are such hardworking writers and readers that it makes my heart so warm to see!

Why struggle to see something on the SmartBoard if it can be given to you individually as a resource to keep and annotate?

There are so many advantages to using paper resources for students because it makes learning more memorable. The sand timer can be used for students of various learning styles from kinesthetic to visual. In order to have a functioning printer, INK is so needed! We will go through a lot of resources and worksheets therefore, ink is imperative! I would like to have enough ink to last the year if possible because I want my students to take what they learned in school and take it home and add to it. They reflect on their learning each and every day and with a resource such as a graphic organizer, scaffolded worksheet, chunked article, etc. it'll be so much easier. Not to mention, its easier to have students refer to a handout when writing an extended response or critical response. The mouse will also be helpful because when making Powerpoints and lesson plans for my students it is easier to click on a mouse rather than do it on a trackpad.

Please help me give my wonderful students the supplies they need in order to perform at their greatest potential. Exit tickets and handouts can be given to each child as opposed to having it displayed on the Promethean Board or SmartBoard.
