Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I am teaching a large group of inquisitive Gifted Third Graders that are cooperative and eager to learn. They are hands-on learners that like to work cooperatively. They enjoy asking questions and sharing their thoughts, opinions and experiences.

My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including the Caribbean, Central and South America.

Most of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some of my students speak both English and Spanish. A few of my students have recently exited the ESOL program which means they were learning English as a second language. Many of my students have siblings either at our school or still at home while others are the only child at home. Many of my students have both parents working and are in the after-school care program, walk home or ride the bus.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students' learning because they can see their pictures come alive. It is not the same to print a picture in black and white as it is to see it in vivid color. Once these pictures are laminated, they will last forever. Also, the binder will allow resources to be organized in the classroom. Headphones are used daily in the classroom to complete online assignments. Some of my students still do not have headphones so these will be used in the classroom by students that need them. This way they can listen and read their assignments for reading and math.
