Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are high energy, passionate and opinionated! They are future leaders who are bold and talented in many different ways. They are writers, dancers, gamers, scientists and mathematicians. However, I work in a Title One school in one of the toughest areas of Staten Island. I aim to keep the playing field leveled, to give them an equitable education. I want to create an environment that sparks curiosity and informed conversations; conversations that can lead to making changes in the world. Many of my students don’t get the opportunity to travel outside of their own neighborhoods. Providing them with a chance to keep informed about what goes on the world would enable them to set their goals high and open their minds to new opportunities.
