it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing kids that love learning. They are students who have emotional or behavioral disorders and some with varying exceptionalites. These are circumstances that could hold them back, but these students simply do not let them. They are passionate about learning and moving forward in their education. They enjoy hands on activities and being active. They have curious minds and enjoy posing questions and learning through inquiry based methods. They enjoy learning about health topics, especially nutrition trends and what local produce can be used as a part of a healthy diet!
My Project
This project reflects the students' desire to learn by seeing and doing! It is kid inspired and focused on their interests of heath and growing their own produce and herbs! These materials will enable students to see first hand how healthy and nutritious herbs and vegetables can be grown indoors! It will help to create a healthy environment within their classrooms and will excite them to share the new nutrition information they learn with their peers.
This program will enable community based change!
It will help these remarkable students to take the knowledge they are learning and physically seeing in the classroom and transfer that knowledge to their classmates. It will enable them to interact with others and practice their interpersonal skills over their favorite subjects, food and health. These indoor gardens and seed trays will allow these kids to take their curiosity about nutrition, health and growth and apply these concepts to a lifestyle changing experience!
