This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an Early Childhood Special Education teacher, the past four years in the classroom have been a wonderful learning experience. I currently teach in a Preschool for All Learners (PAL) classroom setting. In the classroom there are a total of 3 adults which include 1 teacher, 2 assistants, and a maximum of 15 students with special needs. The students are 3-5 years of age.

In the past years, the students' disabilities varied from autism, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairments, and speech or language impairment, which are some of the disability categories that IDEA covers.

My focus as a preschool special education teacher is to provide my students with quality education in the areas of social-emotional, language, cognitive, physical, literacy, and mathematics development. The children enjoy coming to school every day, and so do I. We look forward to learning in a fun environment!

My Project

The materials I am requesting are resources my students would benefit from. The sensory table is a fun way to engage my students in learning. In addition to adding water inside the table, the table can be used with sand. My students with special needs enjoy hands-on activities that encourage them to learn as they play (e.g., finding magnetic letters hidden in water or sand).

If my students with special needs and I gain access to a printer in the classroom, this would be helpful!

The printer would give my students and me fast access to resources such as name cards, number cards, learning games and activities. In addition, my students and I would love to have a wireless portable speaker for outdoor dancing. The speaker we are requesting is small and can be easily carried inside and outside of the classroom. My students enjoy music and movement and so having the opportunity to use the speaker during outdoor learning would be a wonderful experience. My students would be able to dance and sing together, which would promote pro-social skills and a friendly community.

I really hope to reach our goal and am optimistic. Thank you!
