My Students

I teach in a Title 1 school in the Philadelphia School District. My students have huge hopes and dreams as well as the drive to achieve them. They need the support of people who believe in them in order to gain the same resources as other students their age. I try to incorporate technology, hands-on learning, guided reading groups, and powerful topics in my classroom to help my students stay up-to date with the world. Knowledge is a powerful weapon and opportunity is the trigger.

My Project

My school believes in the power to individualize education through technology. We incorporate a blended learning model in which students experience daily technology lessons. I want to be able to share educational videos as well as incorporate a flipped classroom model with my students while they are in class. This way, my students can listen to my directions and watch videos of me going over examples when they need them. My students are diverse in their academic abilities and some need more repetition and guidance than others. With headphones, my students can learn at their own pace and even replay and repeat information to take notes. For example, I can show my students useful videos for writing their essays or for collecting research for their debates. I can also record myself going through the motions to model for my students how to create a text-dependent analysis or create an advanced graphic organizer.

I cannot always answer my students' questions the moment they need an answer, but they could log onto Google Classroom and listen to my directions when they are lost.

This allows me more time to work with my small groups and have my independent learners working at their own pace. Headphones are a tool I can use to revolutionize the way my students learn and use technology to enhance their classroom experience!
