Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach vibrant kindergarteners that are growing their love for school and learning. My students come from diverse backgrounds primarily from African and Latino heritage. Many of which may be experiencing a school setting for the first time or may be English language learners. I cannot speak about my students without mentioning the amazing families, whom every day beat the hardships of poverty to give their children an opportunity to grow and flourish. Teaching in the South Bronx comes with particular challenges but enthusiasm is never one!

Enthusiasm is the driving force as we embark into a new school year post pandemic.

Though this comes with new challenges, children, families, and teachers are continuously finding ways to connect, learn, and be joyful!

My Project

My co-teacher and I will be welcoming a new group of students after the most unusual school year. Though we are expected to function as normal as possible, the pandemic has left some residual changes.

Having individual materials to minimize the amount of sharing is one preventable measure we plan to continue.

This reduces the spread of germs through surfaces. However, preparing for individual materials for each student also requires an organized system so that materials are accessible and students grow to be independent. This project is requesting bins, pencil cases, and labels that will be used to organize students' materials used daily for their learning.
