My Students

Don't you want to help the development of great minds and the leaders of tomorrow? The fifth grade gifted students need technology in their hands to complete independent study projects. You can make this possible with your donation for Dell Inspiron Mini Netbooks.

I am privileged to be teaching twenty-nine tenacious and eager fifth grade gifted students, but lack the resources to help them research topics that they want to learn about in greater depth.

Our school is a Title I school which means it has a sufficiently high percentage of economically disadvantaged students. Most students do not have access to computers and Internet at home. With budget cuts, our school's ability to update and stay current with technology has become limited. The few computers the students can use are older than they themselves with no capabilities to receive software updates. Because we have over 800 students, each class can only visit the computer lab once a week for one hour.

My Project

Technology in the classroom provides invaluable tools and resources to augment the traditional curriculum. By going through the process of an independent study project, students will acquire and refine their analysis and problem solving skills as they work to find, process, and synthesize information they have found online. Dell Inspiron Mini Netbooks will not only help researching skills, but will also enable them to produce a product utilizing technology such as PowerPoints, podcasts, or movies.

My students this year and future years to come, will benefit from these Dell Inspiron Mini Netbooks.

The myriad of resources provided by the online world will provide students more interesting, diverse, and current learning materials. Technology makes teaching and learning more fun and meaningful in today's ever changing world.
