My Students

Our school corporation is a rural district, trying to equip our students with the skills and experiences to be successful in our ever-changing world. I have the privilege to teach first grade, in our small rural district.

My first grade students are excited about the world around them.

As their teacher, it is my goal to create opportunities to make them curious about the world around them. My goal is to empower them to ask questions and find answers. My students are world changers.

My Project

During our literacy block, I focus on explicit lessons for whole-group instruction that focus on phonics, spelling, and word study. I use small-group application that helps my students attend to, learn about, and efficiently use sounds, letters, and words.

I need materials to help students independently reinforce the skills taught during whole-group and small-group instruction.

I am asking for poetry journals that immerse students in rich, rhythmical language to expand their oral language capabilities, develop phonological awareness, and teach about the intricacies of print. The phonics journals will help students learn about word families. The word tiles and scripts will be used with partners to help students collaboratively learn about letters and sounds.
