My Students

The students at this school attend an independent public school that provides a hands-on, interdisciplinary education that incorporates sustainability. I teach 60 13-14 young adolescents that all vary academically and emotionally. Alongside of teaching these young adults the core subjects, we encourage teaching these students how to be community members and critical thinkers that will take them through high school and beyond. These students enter 8th grade all all different learning levels and abilities and it is my goal to have everyone pass 8th grade math on grade level. Majority of the students are from low income families and can not afford the resources to be successful in the classroom.

My Project

These headphones will be able to provide students the ability to learn independently and at their own pace. Students with different abilities and learning styles can watch videos and do practice problems at their own pace without the pressure of their classmates. These students are getting high school ready, and need to learn how to study independently and get ready for high school. Not all students have headphones that are compatible with the school computers, which can hinder their education by not having all the resources to be successful. Using technology in the classroom allows students work at their own pace and focus on the skills that they lack in order to get on grade level.
