Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a special education teacher in an urban setting. I currently teach in a Special Education Support room for grades 3-5. These children are with me for most of their day really striving to understand the curriculum in front of them.

My students are currently work at a year to three years below grade level. They are trying so hard to be where their peers are, but it is very challenging for them. They come to my room in hope that they will be challenged at their level and have success doing it.

Many of the items that I have chosen have numerous types of manipulative's that they can work with. Some of them are puzzles that will work on basic algorithms, while others will work on their problem solving skills. The reading on these activities are at a level that they feel comfortable doing. This allows them to work independently and feel accomplished as they succeed. Some of the activities allow the children to use markers to write on the board, while others use stamps to create pictures so they can understand the problems. I have chosen many different activities to reach all of my learners.

You will make it possible for my students to feel successful when they feel that all the doors have shut on them. These activities will allow them to feel success in the topic at hand.
