This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach Science to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, and one of the units I cover is the life cycles of animals. I believe that observing the life cycle of a chick would be an incredibly engaging experience for my students. This year, my class had the opportunity to witness the transformation of a mealworm into a Darkling Beetle, which they watched and documented in their journals.

The students were enthusiastic about this project, but I know that if students had an incubator, brooder box, and log book and were allowed to observe the incubation process as part of the life cycle of a chick, it would be an unforgettable experience for them.
