Increasing Environmental Awareness and Literacy Through Scientific Inquiry
Help me give my students kits to test the quality of natural waters as well as an Environmental Quality Lab to investigate a variety of environmental topics.

My Project
I am currently working with some awesome and motivated environmental science students - in both class (AP/college prep) and in an after school environmental club.
My goal is to expose as many high school students to the concepts addressed in these lab kits - especially testing the Water Quality Index of local water bodies.
In the future, volunteer environmental club students would like to take these inquiry-based lessons down to the elementary school students. The high school students would facilitate lessons for our younger students based upon the concepts they learned through these inquiry-based activities.
I am hopeful that resources i have requested will enhance my instruction and revive my students' interest in topics that do not deliver the same from a textbook versus from a pond or woods.
These kits will also help take the kids away from their screens for a bit in order to gather real-world data that we can analyze as a class/club.
I am also currently in contact with the DEEP to become trained so I can help my students contribute to gathering water quality data on local waterways. By working with these kits, I would be essentially training the students for future lab-based endeavors.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I am so very grateful.
