I teach at a Title I school, therefore I am pretty sure very few to none of my students have ever engaged in yoga. What I love most about my students is, although they come from many different backgrounds they have the same work ethics. They are supportive of each other and are dedicated to learning and being actively engaged in the lessons being taught. My students are always willing to learn new and exciting things. I want to expose my students to a healthy lifestyle and introduce to them life time activities that promote good health and well being. Yoga is considered a lifetime activity and one with many amazing health benefits. Yoga will increase my students' overall health.
By donating to my project, you will help me introduce mindfulness and meditation to my students, this will ultimately increase their focus in school and promote good coping skills.
Yoga is a mind-body activity with many benefits for school aged children. School aged children are faced with many challenges from Anxiety, bullying, emotional challenges and self-image just to name a few.
Research shows that yoga serves as an elixir not just for adults but school aged children as well. Benefits of yoga in schools includes improved memory and attention span, reduces stress and anxiety, helps to manage weight, improves flexibility, balance and posture, increases self confidence and self-esteem, improves the quality of sleep, boost immunity and improves physical appearance, enhances coping skills, improves self control, promotes mindfulness, encourages self- love and self- care, and teaches correct breathing techniques.
My students' overall health will improve from yoga which will increase their performance in other subject areas.
